Bearden: A Place to Drive To, not Drive Thru.

Proposed Taco Bell Drive Thru

On May 11, 2023, the Knoxville-Knox County Planning Commission will vote on a possible Taco Bell drive through at 5613 Kingston Pike.

It would take the place of the yellow building that abuts the car drop off driveway for Bearden Elementary and KAEC.

A Drive Thru Restaurant will:
  • Increase car traffic in a school zone and a congested area.

  • Increase air pollution on the Greenway and at the schools from idling car's exhaust.

  • Increase noise from the drive thru speaker, especially late at night.

  • Increase danger to pedestrians using the sidewalk on Kingston Pike by drastically increasing the volume of cars entering and exiting the property.
